Diese “Erziehung” erfolgt im Wesentlichen in drei Stadien: Im ersten geschieht lessjng durch unmittelbare sinnliche Strafen und Belohnungen; im zweiten Stadium werden durch die Lehre von der Unsterblichkeit der Seele Lohn und Bestrafung ins Jenseits verlagert; und in einem dritten Stadium erziiehung es keine Belohnungen und Strafen mehr geben, weil die menschliche Vernunft so weit entwickelt ist, dass die Menschen das Gute tun, weil es das Gute ist.
Diese drei Stadien durchlaufen alle Volker, so dass man an ihren positiven Religionen den jeweiligen Entwicklungsstand ihrer Vernunft erkennen kann.

Lessing ist einfach einer der fortschrittlichsten Schriftsteller seiner Zeit in meinen Augen. Die Briefe, die zwischen ihm und Goeze, waren mir zwar bekannt, aber nicht im Originaltext. About Gotthold Ephraim Lessing. Gotthold Ephraim Lessing was a German writer, philosopher, dramatist, publicist, and art critic, and one of the most outstanding representatives of the Enlightenment era. His plays and theoretical writings substantially influenced the development of German literature.
He is widely considered by theatre historians to be the first dramaturg. Lessing was born in Kamenz, a small town in Saxony. His fat Gotthold Ephraim Lessing was a German writer, philosopher, dramatist, publicist, and art critic, and one of the most outstanding representatives of the Enlightenment era.

His father was a clergyman and the author of theological writings. Afra in Meissen from onwards he studied theology and medicine in Leipzig — From to he lived in Lwssing and Berlin and worked as reviewer and editor for, amongst others, the Vossische Zeitung.

Lessing was also famous for his friendship with Jewish-German philosopher Moses Mendelssohn. In his celebrated biography of Mendelssohn’s famous grandson, Felix, Larry Todd describes their friendship as one of the most “illuminating metaphors [for] the clarion call of the Enlightenment for religious tolerance”. Lessing was a poet, philosopher and critic.
